Day 2 of our Berlin escapades and we head to The Room for all of their current offerings. The Room has a prestigious reputation on the enthusiast scene so we had high hopes. Our first room of the day, Go West, did not disappoint.
Now, I should caveat, Team DARKE grew up in the 80’s and 90’s so this game gave us a TON of nostalgic feels. I can’t promise that didn’t help with the scores but I’m pretty confident that the game deserves them regardless of that. The Room GMs are a super friendly bunch too, and one of them had a dog, so we were in a good mood going in.
Go West does exactly what it says in the synopsis. You need to find a way in to West Berlin. The décor in East Berlin was pretty much an 80’s bedsit, a bit grubby. You definitely want to escape it. There are some interesting and sometimes silly puzzles in here though, with a good amount of searching too. It’s a fun area.
The route to East Berlin, once found, has recently been renovated and by all accounts this is a huge improvement. Once in East Berlin, you still need to escape the area you arrive in and this gave us ALL THE FEELS! This room was so fun we didn’t even turn the lights on for ages. And when one of our team almost ruined a puzzle by throwing part of it out of the room, we went through great pains to reach it so we could properly complete it. When we finished the game, we were disappointed to have to leave the room. I could have spent ages in there just looking around, but we had to start our next room.
Highly recommend this room for newbies, enthusiasts, and this in between. 2-6 would be fine in here.
