Delve into the depths of modern day Summerhall, a cultural center for arts and alcohol lovers alike! We’ve partnered up with our neighbours at Pickering’s Gin to create a challenging and immersive experience- Locked in the Distillery.

Your mission here is to uncover the identity of the disgruntled employee plotting against the Distillery, find out what they’re up to, save yourself and save the gin!

A’s 100th Room!

Before escaping the distillery, first we had to find it. It sounds like it’s outside but I think you have enter a building which then brings you in to a courtyard. Who knows. We never entered or left the correct way as a kind axe thrower let us in a side gate and, well, I’ll get to when we left in a bit…

Jackie found us with the axe thrower and took over showing us the way. A lovely, attentive and informative host who made us feel at ease from the get go.

After a bit of a chat and an introduction to the storyline of the room, we were in a really well designed room which did indeed scream ‘distillery’ to me with some interesting props.

We scattered at the start and it seemed like we all had something to look at. I’m sure I didn’t see everything so we made sure we had a debrief after the games. There were a decent variety of puzzles that played to all of our strengths at different points in the room. They were mostly non-linear which is our preferred style but all came together neatly at the end to join us all back up for the final ‘aha’ moment at the end, when Jackie burst through the door with a special 100 rooms treat for me. What a sweetheart! Especially when all the rest of the staff were off, it was incredibly thoughtful.

As an experienced team of 5 we got a pretty good time on this room. Experienced 2 player teams will have a lot to do but should be used to that by now. Newbies might want a couple more on their team.

After playing a second room there also, we went downstairs to the Royal Dick where we had a drink and a debrief and munched on our yummy 100 room doughnuts. As we got up to leave we once again were immediately lost and couldn’t even open a gate. Jackie to the rescue again who happened to be passing at the time. We can escape a room but would we ever have been able to enter or escape Summerhall? We’ll never know.
