Another trip to Cluetopia today, our favourite escape room company. They open rooms so quickly, we can’t keep up!
We had a nice chat with Glen before the game, then were given ID badges before we entered our room. We are all entrants in the 1978 dance contest. The only way I can describe this room is part escape room, part cluedo. It’s a nice concept, and it’s not a theme we really encounter much.
This is one of Cluetopia’s smaller rooms, so whilst it’s layout does suggest nightclub, it would only really be a nightclub for 6 people. They have packed all the key nightclub elements into the small space. Of course, we don’t expect a full sized nightclub when we do an escape room, that would be ridiculous!
The puzzles were kind of thematic. They certainly used elements of the interior well, and there were some nice little nods to other escape rooms in the area. It felt like an homage.
This is the only escape room that Cluetopia haven’t designed and built themselves, and, in our opinion, it showed. We usually click with Cluetopia rooms and this one didn’t gel for us personally. But it’s still a good room, and of course every player is different. Some of the reviews I read of rooms I’ve been to I think maybe that reviewer made a mistake and mixed it up with something else. Maybe that’s what you think when reading ours.
I think if you love the idea of 70’s groove escape rooming, then go and try it for yourself. Dance your way to a murderous reveal.
